Esao Andrews Beginnings

Esao Andrews was born and grew up in Arizona (near Mesa) where he attended Red Mountain High School. He later moved to New York, NY in 1996 in order to complete his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Illustration. There he attended the School of Visual Arts.

Upon graduation he spent a few years working as a flash animator and painted in his spare time. Andrews began exhibiting his paintings in coffee shops and group shows. He eventually landed a two-person show at Fuse Gallery in New York along with John John Jesse.

He has collaborated with Tara McPherson and Travis Louie for a DC Comics. He has also created album artwork for the band Circa Survive on the albums Juturna,On Letting Go, and Blue Sky Noise. Some of these images can be seen below with similar titles.

In 2006 Mr. Andrews had a story published in the anthology 1001 Nights of Snowfall called The Witches Tale.

Over the years Mr. Andrews has developed a distinct style of dark and surreal characters, blending erotic and sometimes frightening surrealistic images.

Media and Inspriation

Mr. Andrews works in both digital and physical media with oil on canvas or panel being the medium for physical works.

Mr. Andrews also creates Adobe flash animations.

Mr. Andrews cites as inspiration the works of cites Gustav KlimtEgon SchieleAlfons Mucha, and Joe Sorren.

Esao Andrews is a tireless who is quite prolific. Studies include his dog, Soybean, friends, locations, and events.
